brian mentioned that it would be nice to have a little Perl comamnd line application to fetch weather directly from NOAA.
If you're using Mac OS X 10.2+, you might want to look at Meteo. It maintains a brief weather synopsis in the dock, on the menu bar, or in a window. I keep it in the dock, where it displays temperature and an icon for the current weather conditions.
