Not learning from history

Today, five of the 25 links on blogdex are pointing to the astroturf-style XP-Switch campaign page that was briefly on Microsoft's website. (More information at /.) Maybe after another 100 or so stumbles, the great giant that is Microsoft will learn that (1) astroturf campaigning doesn't work, (2) stealing every idea from Apple may have worked in 1985, but not any more, (3) FUD is transparent, (4) once something is posted onto the web, it cannot be unposted (the net has a long, deep collective memory), and/or (5) if you want freedom to innovate, then innovate instead of marketing.

Microsoft has no style. And I don't mean that in a small way. I mean that in a big way.
