The Free the Mouse campaign lists other plaintiffs beside Eric Eldred (like Dover Publications).
I don't know who this Eldred character is, but he's running Eldritch Press, which publishes free books online (i.e., books that have come into the public domain at the end of their copyrighted lifespan).
Eldritch Press points to the the Online Books Page at the University of Pennsylvania (a growing collection of links to over 17,000 titles at the moment). On their new listings page, they note that as of today, Norm Walsh's Making TeX Work is now available online at Sourceforge. This book has been out of print for a number of years (making occasional appearances in the $5.00 book pile).
Norm's book came out in 1994, back when O'Reilly still included the boilerplate section on how to get software without FTP. (Remember to use your Internet email address as your anonymous FTP password, not your BITNET address... And don't forget to send your comments to uunet!ora!nuts.)
Thanks Norm! Thanks O'Reilly!
Woohoo! I've been needing information on metafont to work on Lilypond! Thanks for the news!
