The local evening news is on in the background. With all of the wars silently raging elsewhere on the planet, the ongoing war on terrorism, the continuing unrest in the middle east and the almost-complete implosion of the stock market, the still find the time to broadcast stories like this:

  • Why does Ivory Soap (tm) float?
  • How much should you tip a mover?
  • Why doesn't the post office always put the value on postage stamps?

It's far easier to manage a docile population kept ignorant of (US) foreign policy and then to tell the candid truth. Speaking of which, I'm going to try to see the PowerPuff Girls movie tonight. Yay!

Oh, come now. This is local news. You've seen local newspeople. Do you really think them capable of reporting on complex international issues? Besides, there's plenty of news sources that do cover these events for people who want them, including most national nightly newscasts.
