Today, the final stone in the Pentagon restoration was set. It's a little poetic that the new stone is laid 9 months to the day after the attacks. The date is part co-incidence, part good planning and scheduling, and two parts spin management.
There's another poetic turn in that ceremony. The final stone is not one that was freshly quarried as part of the restoration, but one of the original stones in the Pentagon that survived the attack. That stone was originally laid some six decades ago, possibly 60 years to the day; the original groundbreaking for the Pentagon was on Sept. 11, 1941.
delegatrix found a report today that was released in the last days of the Clinton administration. It discusses open source and high end computing. I had to pause for a moment when I saw the publication date: Sept. 11, 2000.
