BestBuy is back in the anti-privacy news, again:
The shift raised the eyebrows of some privacy advocates. The changes are only the latest in a disturbing trend of companies revamping their privacy policies to the detriment of consumers, advocates say. Companies usually make such changes themselves, taking little input from customers and leaving them with little recourse. With the policy changes from BestBuy, eBay, Yahoo!, and lots of other companies, it's clear that your privacy today is next to meaningless - the issue is your privacy tomorrow. This particular instance (joining online and brick-and-mortar sales data) isn't particularly newsworthy, except that it illustrates a disturbing trend.
