This hypometer goes to eleven!

The childish back-and-forth about Sun's lack of membership in the WS-I has finally come to a head. Even anyone born yesterday could tell that Sun's conspicuous absence from this consortium was due to backroom dealings by Microsoft.

If this is how web services are to begin, then how ever can it possibly fufill its promise to deliver vendor-neutral and technology-agnostic interoperability?

??! You sound like a glossy IBM brochure!

The more I witness the w3c and this web services debacle, the more I believe that the only way to achieve a "vendor-netural and technology-agnostic standard" is if it's developed by and for open source software and the "vendors" are forced to cooperate for a share of the market. Like TCP/IP and DNS.

Anything led by IBM or Microsoft has the odds heavily stacked against it because of one thing and one thing only: greed.
