Matt has posted some interesting observations about teaching XML to perlfolk. I added some commentary from my experiences in the area.
Hopefully, before long, we'll have this nut cracked. I've witnessed some abysmal presentations in this domain. XML isn't going away, so we'd all be better off if we can (1) figure out how to explain it and (2) simplify it so it doesn't take as much effort to explain. :-)
