We sat through bits and pieces of the closing Salt Lake closing ceremonies last night. The pagentry and symbolism might be really great if you're in the stadium, but it doesn't really come off that well with twenty different cameras.
Nevertheless, some parts were stunningly funny. Like when the Olympians were marching into the stadium to the tune of the Imperial March from Star Wars. Maybe it was that Olympic March thingy. They sound so eerily similar.
Then it got better. What was the next song they played after the march music? Run Like Hell from Pink Floyd's The Wall. Yes, the song about the hammer-punks storming the streets. Someone must have mistook the chorus singing «Run, run, run, run!» for an expression of athleticism. Well, at least they picked an obscure album that only about 27 people on the planet have ever heard...
