The press release went out about a month ago, but the first of the Tennesee State Quarters are now in circulation.
Something has changed since I last visited the US Mint website. It used to be that there was a lot of information to find about the State Quarters program. Now, it's difficult not to get directed to the web catalog hocking all sorts of chatzkes:
- First Day Covers (is this philately or numismatics?)
- Bags of quarters by the 100 or 1000, from Denver or Philadelphia
- Two rolls of quarters, one each from Denver and Philadelphia
- Desk clocks
- Key chains
- Pendants
- Bookmarks
- Golf Divot tools (????)
- Collector's spoons
- and wrist watches
Whatever. I'll be waiting for Ohio quarters to come into circulation. Apparently the only famous thing about Ohio is that it's residents love the state so much, they tend to get involved in aeronautics just to flee the state more quickly. :-)
