Jeffrey Phillips writes about the frustrations of when the ideal of being "more productive" translates into "(repeatedly) doing more work":

These broken tools provide everyone on the team a common bond -- spending time sharing frustrations on how broken the process/tools are (instead of actually working).The contract states on page 8, section 4 paragraph 2 that I agree I'll be more productive and more innovative. The corresponding agreement from the company states that they'll provide the tools, the processes and the culture to ensure I can be successful. I'm (We're) living up to our half of the bargain - I've got a hard hat, a miner's lamp, firefighting boots, and a crystal ball. I seem to use each of those every day. Where are the tools, processes and information I was promised?
