So I finally reformatted my iBook and installed Tiger last night. I was quite pleased to find the Oxford American dictionary pre-installed. (No need to settle for Webster's 1913 and fumble with a local dictd
any longer...) Given SPJ's earlier negotiations with Webster (i.e. Digital Webster of blessed memory), I wonder if Webster snubbed Apple, asked too much money this time, or if Apple courted Oxford, or if Oxford gave a better deal. (That'll be something for the Cupertino-ologists to chew on for another few weeks...)
Here's the funny thing. On the iBook, the F12 key is the CD Eject button, so I remapped the Dashboard FKey to F8. And I've got the OAD widget running. And I did this last night, after using Tiger for maybe 30 minutes. And I played with it for maybe another hour or so before going to bed.
At $WORK
, where I have an anemic Win2K box on my desk, running the same config for the last 14+ months; I just hit F8 and was surprised not to see Dashboard pop up the OAD widget.
