It could have been a lot shorter, and just as effective, by merely listing two truisms:
- There is no set of the "best" programmers. There are only a set of programmers which are best for a particular job opening at a particular company. What might be best for you might not be best for someone else.
- Most programmers, including at least part of whatever is the top 0.5% for you or anyone else, will not be available to take a particular job opening at a particular company.
