Gub'ment Computer News reports on some interesting uses of RSS at the Census Bureau, NOAA and other federal agencies.
I dunno. I just can't seem to get excited about RSS or Atom. It all seems so very 1997 to me. Obvious and boring, too. (Then again, I do remember my.netscape.com, and wished that the hundreds of feeds that Netscape aggregated were available for public use.)
But if the tech press must hype something, at least RSS is something useful, even if it is a big steaming pile of random and gratuitous incompatability. Better that than waxing poetic about some brand new boolean operator that Microsft just invented.
I'm waiting for Microsoft's patent application of an
IsSomewhatSimilarTo method on strings.

It's RSS, not URSS
Anyway, I think it's pretty cool for lots of people. Now I can actually follow Slashdot!
