How about the original MAKE.MONEY.FAST or Cantor and Siegel green card spam? Surely they'd be tame by modern standards...

This seems to be the Cantor & Siegel "Green Card Lottery" post. Searching for posts containing "Green Card" from around the same time will give you an idea of the net's reaction.

This takes me back...way back when, there were only rumors that Microsoft was going to standardize on some form of BASIC as their extension language. At the time, Word had WordBasic, Excel had that horrid environment of "command sheets" (or whatnot), and PowerPoint (just recently released!) had no extension language whatsoever...

Oh, and WinNT was still on the horizon, bound to replace all UNIX installations all over the planet. (VMS, of course, was doomed, but no one bothered to tell the VAX shops, yet...)
