ZeroInstall looks like a simple and interesting way to keep a Linux box up to date. It's the last thing I'd use for a personal machine, or as a mechanism to install random binaries off of the net. But it looks like a reasonable mechanism to keep a bunch of thin clients in sync with a centralized fileserver (much like a lot of large shops use Novell/Samba today). (Looks like it requires some kernel modules to work though...)
