The Perl Foundation Call for Project Proposals went out yesterday.
I sincerely hope that this does not become a vehicle for a thousand small, specialized projects to beg for money to fix bugs. That's not the role of the TPF. IMNSHO, TPF Grants are for the big picture, community wide projects that cannot move forward without a sustained, dedicated effort.
I do hope that many people follow sheriff_p's lead: use bug bounties for a thousand small, specialized projects to send money to TPF. This refocuses the discussion on what's important: building better software and building a better community -- not starting yet another big huge project that cannot move forward without full time staff. Perl6/Parrot is just about the only big huge project that we can sustain right now...
Schwern did something similar leading up to the recent 5.8 release. Has anyone else announced a similar fund drive?
