Interesting.. I thought one of the last signs was Monica Lewinski's hosting of that new show (was it Mr. Personality? I forget. I couldn't care less actually) [someone else posted this thought somewhere, so I can't claim it as my own]

This is quite surprising. And at the same time, it isn't.

It's nice that SBC is going to be run by an organization that is devoted to coffee, rather than a fried chicken shop that is trying to diversify. Hopefully SBC will be kept intact (and even expand), which will be good for coffee, even if all of their profits are going to *$.

My best cup of coffee ever was from a street vendor in Seattle on a cold December afternoon. The barista made the perfect tall Americano with freshly ground SBC espresso beans.

As long as SBC beans remain the best coffee in Seattle (or most of the US for that matter), then all is not lost.
