I had The McLaughlin Group on (don't ask me why -- maybe I had a need to hear people shouting about politics), and one of the talking heads used the word "naif" (or "naïf", for our typographically more conservative colleagues). Only he pronounced it to rhyme with "safe", which somewhat undermined his image of omniscience.
