I work for $BIG_COMPANY, we have many different groups/offices dotted around the country/world.
I need to make a socket connection to a remote server in another group of ours. In the past this would have been no problem as we're all the same happy family behind the corporate firewall safe from the nasty internet, right?
Not anymore, now we have to specifically request that IP A be allowed to connect to IP B on port C. Of course, the network operations folks are taking their sweet time in 'making-this-happen'. So far it's been a week and a bloody half. I just want to test my program dammit, give me the connection I need, sigh.
