So the big panic yesterday was the bloody Goner virus. Of course people in my office opened the attachments - some people never and will never learn. It's not a hard concept to grasp - don't open the attachment people! Had to laugh as the desktop support came around and hijacked people's desktops while they installed the latest virus scan definitions. As usual they had no concept of what running linux means and tried to force me into loading the virus updates. When I pointed out (for the 50th time) that I don't run windows I got the 'deer in the headlights look'. 'Well you should still run the update' they said. I sighed - 'but the virus is written in Visual Basic' I thought that this would clue them in (er, you know, *VB* - the micro$oft product) - again I got the deer in the headlights look. 'Oh, er, ok then' was their final reply as they ran to the next cubie. (grin).
