So I'd finally got to the point where I'd all but eliminated Windows from my life - both at home and at work. My desktop box has been 100% linux for the past 2 years, my work laptop has been dual boot for the past year or so but I haven't booted windows in months. I develop server side perl running on some rather large and sexy Sun boxes so windows was but a faint memory...until today.
The scoop is - I need to automate some mundane Windows tasks that some of our unfortunate Windows users must perform daily. That is - run an application, click on some menu's run some reports to files, transfer the files to the Sun boxes. The goal of course is to try and do this in perl.
So, I dusted off the windows partition on my laptop, downloaded ActivePerl from ActiveState and was all set. Next stop, my friendly local CPAN. A search for 'Win32' resulted in the following modules that might *perhaps* be worth looking at. I only glanced at this list briefly and have no idea at this point if any will work for me. (Actually I have no idea at this point if I can even achieve my goal as I haven't done any perl development in windows.) Here's the list of possible modules so far:
