FreeBSD is dropping perl from the base install. I'm a big FreeBSD guy, and I got to admit I think this is kinda silly. I know they have good reason, like the bloat in bleedperl's libs, and the complexity of the perl kit, but I think it's still a valuable tool that people expect to find in a modern unix. They are going to keep it as a port that can be installed from the installer, like XFree86 is right now, which is better than nothing. I still wish they would keep it in the core OS. I fully admit that this opinion is personal, and not tainted by logic.
