psp, scheme

Emily got a new PSP today. I'm totally impressed, mostly since tiny screens have always dazzled me, starting with my first Game Boy and all of its four colors. Seeing 30 fps of realtime 3D (no anti-aliasing though) is completely amazing. The games seem of really high quality and I'm really looking forward to seeing the online play.

I've found the little disc media to be the most interesting -- What's the point of putting the disc in a cartridge to protect it if there's no spring-loaded door to protect the reading area? (see reverse side)

In other news, to procrastinate from studying for finals I've been attempting to learn a little Scheme. My primary tutorial has been Teach Yourself Scheme in Fixnum Days along with the DrScheme development environment. I like the DrScheme application, though it's much better integrated with Mac OS X than with Linux.

More details on the scheme development later since that's a much longer discussion. Now to study and listen to the *clik clik clik* of fingers tapping PSP buttons :-)

I learned my first lessons in Scheme from Lists of Lists, a combination tutorial and Scheme machine written for the Z-machine by the insane genius Andrew Plotkin. I suggest you check it out.
