The last one came out in 2000, 7 years ago. I wonder if there are ephemeral thoughts in putting a new one out? Or if there are "others" that replace the need for it?
I cannot see Larry W. working on it since I am pretty sure that he is tied up with Perl6.
Just musing about it.
While I'm not sure that 5.8 would justify it, 5.10 definitely would. It has some fantastic features that many people aren't going to know about. I'd love to see a 'Learn Perl 5.10' Web page with a good summary. I suppose there is one out there, somewhere

I'm wondering how people think a Microsoft Office format is fine — MS Office is expensive; but a format for a free program is not acceptable.Re:5.10

While not wishing to get into either a political or technical discussion about which file formats are "better", the simple fact is that more people have the capability to read the Microsoft formats (.doc,.xls, and .ppt) than the OpenOffice equivalents. The OpenOffice users have the best of both worlds - they can read and write Microsoft Office files as well as their own. However those of us using the Microsoft applications are stuck with
.doc, .xls, and .ppt, and may not wish to (or even be able to) install a new office suite (e.g. on a work machine). So if distributing information to the widest possible audience is important, please stick to either the Microsoft Office formats, or publish as HTML or PDF.
Cheers,
JJ

Great material! Thanks for the link.
I welcome anyone who wants to put together such a thing and could even find (modest) funding for the project.

Well, since I'm already working on the regular expression documentation, I guess I could contribute something too.
