Apparently the newer Motorola 5120 overrides any speed throttling being done by COMCAST because it is using a newer DOCSIS standard internally. The guy I know that told me this says he is getting 20-25MB down instead of the 6MB you are normally supposed to get. He called COMCAST and apparently they are aware but not in a hurry to fix it because they are looking to up their base speed anyway because of competition they see coming in the future.

I am switching from DSL to COMCAST and my friend could not have told me at a better time. I was going to buy one anyway so if he is right and I get the higher speed for a while kudos otherwise I still about triple my speed with the move.Re:Interesting

My friend corrected himself:
It is the turbodox feature that does it.You still need to get the 5120.
