I actually got a telecommute job from the Perl jobs site. I interviewed as a beginning Perl guy. I even took less pay because I wanted to learn Perl from someone other than a book. Books are nice, but if that is all you have you tend to only do things the book way. Anyway, I quickly realized I was over my head and that is putting it lightly. I was using the same things they were (Perl, Template-Toolkit) and the site I had at work did what I wanted by the book. The telecommute job was using TT2 in a way I just could not grasp. So instead of hurting the project and wasting the guys money I bowed out gracefully.
Note to self: learn more Perl!
