I finally got the guys at sendmail.com to get my download page set up correctly. Today, I downloaded the Linux version of sendmail. I backed up the /etc/mail directory from the Solaris machine, and dumped it to the Linux box. Then I installed sendmail and Interscan Virus Wall. Fired it up, and no joy. For whatever reason, sendmail isn't starting correctly. The log files are silent as to why. I guess I'll spend some time on the phone with Sendmail tomorrow. *sigh*
I located a perl script for keeping the Solaris boxes patched, and that rocks. It compares the installed patches with Sun's list of recommended patches, and downloads them and installs them if necessary. I had to install only a few modules (fairly standard stuff: LWP, IO, etc.). It works like a charm, too. Thank God. That's one less thing I have to deal with.
I'm just not a Solaris fan.
Everyone seems up-in-arms about the new MP3 royalty schedules. Do people still use MP3s? God, Ogg is the only way to go. I've been using it for so long, I'd almost forgotten there ever was a royalty issue with MP3 files.
