People with ideas and the programmers who listen to them

I did it again. Someone started blathering about setting up a business and having something coded, and I entertained the notion, even getting up at 5am three Tuesdays running to drive off to meet this fellow. He waffles, I wake up and realize I'm at it again.

It is not the natural occupation of programmers to spend half of their time trying to entice people into starting businesses just so the programmer will have a job. People don't send for doctors, discuss medical ideas with the doctors, ellude to employement for the doctor if the doctor can feign entusaism, and then dismiss the doctor without so much as a bone. Why do programmers go in for this kind of crap? Oh yeah. We're desperate for work. That's right. Please... give me a corpse to autopsy... anything...
