Back in 1998 Gisle Aas prepared a graphical overview of all the major internal perl structures, as described in perlguts.pod
However this all changed with 5.10, and since nobody else did it and I helps me immensely to work on the compiler, I updated illguts ("illustrated guts") to the current perl state.

I haven't looked at the new version yet, but Gisle's original is a work of brilliance. Thanks for updating it to reflect the current state of the internals!
Nevertheless
From the point of view of someone who has read the Cozens XS book and 'written' some very bad XS modules, this is not only beautiful but a far more readable and useful piece than either the PODs or the book.
It's a crying shame that it seems that the Perl book market is off the boil because surely this would be the nucleus of something people would love to have.
Yes, Gisle's work is attractive and his English prose very readable.
Thank you for making its value increase and also for a superb reference on what lies beneath that svelte and ever helpful Perlish exterior.
