Git Fit

I've finally fixed my bicycle, and I've joined a 12-week fitness program at the Y. I can't stand running these days (pounding joints? no thanks), so it'll be the treadmill or X-country ski machine while at the Y, and riding up and down our local bike trail or hiking/biking in other more interesting locales. I've gone out on a few rides already w/my son, who has just learned to ride, and although it's all fine and fun, I'd like to get out by myself and get off-road and kick it into a higher gear :-)

We have so far been riding down the local bike trail (I don't like riding on the streets), and have made it to the museum at the end of the trail a couple of times (~6 miles round trip) on 90-100 degree days.

When I lived around Silicon Valley, I used to ride mostly in Henry Coe State Park, with favorite rides being China Hole or the Blue Ridge Loop. The loop ride was "only" 15 miles, but it was up and down three mountain ridges with a few thousand feet of elevation change. Hopefully I can get back there sometime soon :-)
