I enjoyed the show Hamish MacBeth when it was on BBC America, but I didn't realize it originated from a series of books (by M.C. Beaton). We found some of the series at our local library, and have been reading what's available. I usually don't much care for mystery novels (with titles that begin "Death of a..."), but these are funny (kind of like P.G. Wodehouse, another favorite), and the TV show seemed like a sort of Scottish Northern Exposure. And the books are fairly short :-)
