We've been renting our cable modem up until now. When we first got cable, the modems were $200+, so it was questionable whether or not we'd be in one place long enough to make it worth it. Now that they're $29.99, it's a no brainer. And while we were at it, we got a wireless router. It's 12:30am, and the modem and the non-wireless ethernet port on the router at least finally work (lots of powering down and back up, reset the router, then had to download firmware upgrade, more powering up/down/etc.). I'll work fixing up the laptop with wireless tomorrow...must get zzzzzzz.
