The subversion guys have an interesting open-source project management concept : bite-sized tasks. As they define them, those are tasks that are well-defined and self-contained, and thus suitable for a volunteer looking to get involved with the project. Probably a good way to get new developers involved in the project.
I mean, it makes perfect sense, and I like the name. I suspect somewhere there's an XP basher who likes the idea and misses the notion that they're related.
