Job continuation

My current contract has ended. But I don't need to look for another job, because the company I worked for has hired me ! I begin -- or continue -- in two weeks. (Hence my vacation.) Keywords : mod_perl, large application, advanced javascript (I even begin to enjoy this), various unix flavors, and a little bit of C.

I know it sounds like a pervert niche pr0n thing but I'd be really interested in knowing what you're finding out about advanced {Java,Ecma}Script. I've used it quite a bit myself but I only ever seem to meet people that either 1) use it like pigs, thus justifying it having just about as good a reputation as Perl or 2) having seen examples of the latter code and hating it without having tried it.

Yes, most (if not all) Javascript I've seen on the web sucks. Either it's very simple, or very annoying. But that's the web. The project I'm working on is an intranet application. So we can control what the client browser is (we require at least Mozilla 1.0 or IE 6), and design an interface slightly more complex and powerful than the average web application. Examples : forms that modify themselves depending on the values being entered (e.g. by inserting new fields), user-configurable keyboard shortcuts, on-line help, etc. etc.
