I'm currently tech-reviewing two O'Reilly books to come. (As a side-effect I've no time to read anything else.) The funny side is that sometimes, something I read in one of the books points me at an error in the other one.
Also on the todo-list : I've a little module on its way to CPAN. It's a PerlIO layer implemented in perl. There's currently no namespace for this kind of modules (because they require perl 5.8 or higher ;-). Tim Bunce suggested IOLayer::*, which sounds nice.
