Ok, done. I thought I had, but apparently I didn't.
By the way, you probably remember I once talked about a problem with substr, that I planned to investigate, and eventually submit a patch for... Well, time has flown since then, and I never went further than writing a series of tests that showed what worked as expected and what didn't. If you are interested, I can post the list of tests, either here or (probably better) on the lyon or paris mongueurs mailing list.
