I was wondering that also, and I think he was all over the place in there. For example, in some places he seemed to imply that breaking through the things we can't say would lead to a kind of progress where new insights and truths are realized, in other places he seemed to imply that what we could and couldn't say were just fashion and not related to progress.
However, I think he did redeem the "point" in the section titled "Why?". It's mental exercise, which is good in and of itself.
