It's not called searching for dates. No. That would be too easy. It's not even called date extraction. It's called named entity extraction. There's nothing so powerful as a field specific terminology to keep the peons out where they belong.
And boy is it non-trivial. I'd go so far as to quote Barbie: "getting dates is HARD!"
