We are making discussions in Slash be DHTML-ified.
Today I rolled it out for all users on use Perl. You need to check the box either in your user preferences (select "Slashdot's New Discussion System" under "Discussion Style") or activate the checkbox in the huge box at the top of a discussion.
Much of this will work without JavaScript, but much of it will not. So, you non-JavaScript users are warned.
Read the FAQ entry for more information, and feel free to comment here.

This looks promising. I want to see how it works with larger threads.Re:Testing

Wow. I turned it on, and I'm not even sure what the controls do. But I haven't gotten done pushing all the buttons, yet.

Why would you need it?Re:Testing

To get from your "Why would you need it?" comment to my "Where did the 'parent comment' link go?" Apparently it came back, though, shortly after I asked the question. It just seems to not be there immediately after you post a comment.

The buttons are for changing threshold (what comments you see) and highlight threshold (whether comments you see are "full" or "oneline"), based on score of the comments. Since almost all use Perl comments are Score:1, this is not very useful here.
