I went and spent a lot of money this weekend.
My wife and I often, instead of spending money on Christmas presents, save up for the things we want/need and purchase those around Christmas time. It sorta makes us feel like we participated in spending a lot for Christmas like good little consumers, and we get all the sales and special deals.
Try it, it's fun!

Seriously, though. It's a reasonable way to take care of business. We're looking to replace a tv set from 1983, a boombox of similar vintage, buy a few kitchen items, and maybe stock up on some DVDs. And the books we're buying are for other people now, and not Perl-related.We now continue with the airing of the grievances, followed by the Feats of Strength(tm).

I like Christmas... the problem is that all this consumerism gets in the way of it.
