I'm not a fan of "Free Registration Required". I don't need to provide identity documents to buy a newspaper at the milkbar, and I certainly find no benefit in having to provide details to read the same articles on-line. Matters are even more frustrating when the registration system doesn't actually work, providing an endless loop of "You are already logged in" and "You must register" pages.
Luckily, the newspaper in question that has recently introduced its "Free Registration Required" section has also left in a way whereby users can continue to go straight to the article, with no registration rubbish required at all. It's also allowed by their Terms of Service. Very sensible.
