I've alphabetized my CD collection up through Hüsker Dü. It used to be alphabetized before I moved, but I didn't do a proper shelf shift like a librarian would have.
I made a point of showing Amy the three feet of Johnny Cash, just to get her to roll her eyes.
That new Johnny Cash box set Unearthed has 64(!) new tracks. Yum.

One obvious example. I've loads of CDs by John Coltrane ; and I've loads of CDs by Thelonious Monk. But I've also two CDs by "Thelonious Monk and John Coltrane". After worring fifteen years about it, they're now thrown in a disordered stack, and it works.
I still want four-dimensional shelves.
