Code I don't have to write

I love it when I envision a big infrastructure that will be a key component for the project I'm working on, and then finding that someone else has already written it for me.

Log::Dispatch rocks

Count me among its many fans.

You should also check out Log4perl. It builds on Log::Dispatch to do for Perl what Log4j does for Java. There are some rough edges, but it's worked very well for me on many large projects.

Holy cats, Bill, I didn't know you had a journal here. Drop me a line at andy at petdance.com, willya?

I was also impressed by Log::Log4perl and began to adopt it. I haven't yet gotten over the hurdle of it's overflowing documentation and feature set, though. It still feels like it's more work than it should be when I use it. I believe some more pointed examples would be very helpful for me....and I'm curious of Andy's impression of it as well. :)

It's usually Dave Rolsky who wrote it
