Phew...

Last year I gave Damian $2000, which put me quite a long way up the listings of donors. Which was nice. Trouble is I'm now a (relatively) poorly paid permie with no spare cash.

Then I remembered, I still haven't billed O'Reilly for my Not Just For Damians article. So, if they just send the cheque to YAS instead of me there's no worries about converting money from dollars to sterling and back.

And I hereby pledge that if I sell O'Reilly any more articles about Perl 6 I will donate the fee to the YAS funding drive.

Suddenly I'm feeling a good deal less guilty.

it's not about how much

you give rather that you give. It not only shows a sign of support for Kevin and those who helped form the foundation but also it is a strong sign and leverage for larger capital gift requests from companies. How can you ask for ORA or anyone else to give a large amount of money if you can't get people to even give $10 or $20 to show that they at least want to show their support even if they can't afford anything else?

That's a really good idea. It's especially apt 'cuz Damian's OOP book influenced my technical writing. (It remains to be seen if I learned *good* lessons, besides a PTerrian footnote style. :)
