Last week, the unusual news that armed police had executed a suicide bomber on the London tube, having "unloaded 5 shots" into the back of his head.

By Saturday it emerged that he had nothing to do with the recent attacks; by that evening, that he was a Brazilian Electrician, heading to work. To all the "Why would an innocent man run away from the police?" questions, a fairly convincing explanation (in parts of Brazil, when 15 armed men start shouting at you to stop, they may well be a drug gang coming to kill you). In any case, I doubt that Brazilians are the only people who would panic when a bunch of men point guns at them (don't know that I'd do).

Police insist the "shoot to kill to protect" policy should remain.
