On the continuing threat from the yellow peril

Last Sunday appeared to be a great day for dandelions - the patch of uncut grass between two houses opposite was covered in yellow. Curiously, this seems to be a week or so earlier than last year's dandelion event horizon. Today a new generation of nemesis of dandelions was seen opposite, with his parents' flymo, flattening the lot. Meanwhile, I've been trying to eliminate the local threat, pulling up flowering terrorists when I spot them. Today I went for total warfare, and dug out every one I could find in the lawn. I've put them on the compost heap, but this may not be the best idea, as one of the bastards already there had the audacity to produce a seed head, after four days of lying prone, wilting, and in the sun, atop the compost heap. Incorrigible.

Perhaps the war on terror is doomed to fail, whatever approach I take.
