Ulster says no [to water bills]

You wouldn't even try to make it up. Forty or so years after the troubles started, three thousand or so murders, numerous delays, back-pedalling, crises and setbacks, with issues and animosity dating back around four hundred years, and Gerry Adams and Ian Paisley have their first meeting on the momentous subject of water bills. It seems that my enemy's enemy is my friend, and in this case the enemy is direct rule.

However, they may just manage to make this one work. Because if they don't, direct rule will resume, water bills will go out to their voters and they will have failed in a very obvious (and financially painful) way.

OK Tony. You have your legacy. Time to go.
