So, I hired a transit to collect a washing machine and some other things from my sister. Or at least that's what I assumed I was going to hire. Transits are easy - they're drive like a car, only harder to stall. What I actually got was some sort of similar size Citroën with a diddy little gearstick up on the dashboard, and a handbrake to the right[*]. Strange.
Gearstick up high is actually a good thing, as with a regular gearstick you find that if you have a passenger in the middle seat it keeps hitting their knee. I know this from personal experience, usually as the knee. But the handbrake is just strange.
Anyway, it got the job done, although when I drove my dad and the dog round here in it, the dog found that if he sat up he could get hit by the gearstick. Where there's a way, he'll be in it. :-)
* remember, I'm in the UK, where we drive on the correct side of the road. Left is right, and right is wrong.
