I mean how exactly would ID Cards help if they aren't checking anything when exiting the country, or he could obviously have a fake foreign id (which ID Cards won't stop) which would get him past the rather poor security that was supposed to be looking out for people fleeing the country.
I saw him say that this morning as well. The guy is clearly a fool. It's his poor planning for 'victory' in Iraq (amongst others) that has contributed to all this mess.
